Sitka Spruce Tops
Sitka Spruce is one of the most popular tonewood in guitar making. Spruce top is recognized for its pale color and understated figuring. It’s known as ‘all-rounder wood’ for the excellent tonal and mechanical properties. It’s a perfect tone, smooth and sweet, not too bright and thin yet composed of enough warmth. Spruce top is a good combination with any other tonewoods. It has a very good projection and volume to boot.
Sitka Spruce is a common wood species with an additional grain pattern like “bearclaw”. It’s not that resistant, but with right treatment the wood lasts for decades. It easily dyes in the finishing process compared to other woods. The bright look and color makes it an attractive guitar after finishing process.
