HAVE NOT HAD A CHANCE TO US IT YET. Just finished it today, was fun but a little punk on the end grain that would not cut out. Out side of that it turned ok.
Defective Spalted Tamarind Bowl Blank- 4" x 4" x 2" (with Pinholes)
This piece of wood has a weird "sealant" on the ends that seaped deep into the wood and effectively means I paid for 2 inches I have to cut off and waste as the ends are effectively tainted.
Peruvian walnut is easy to work with. I used MinWax natural stain and it came out darker than a black walnut box I did earlier. Pretty dark wood.

Very disappointed with how little flame both sets have. I understand they were bogo, but it doesn’t feel like I got a deal, just two low quality tops for a lower price.

Spalted Tamarind Wood Turning Blank for Bottle Stoppers, Rings, Jewelry, Game calls, Tool Handles
I used the blank to cut a shape a new saddle for an acoustic bass. The demensions were as stated on the site. Used a diamond dermal cut off wheel and a bench grinder to cut and shape. I'm not a luthier, but I think it came out pretty good.

This package of wood is not square. As you can see from the attached photos, the package changes by over 1/8” over a distance of about 9”. I don’t know yet whether a single board is bad or if multiple boards are not square. I shared this with customer support and they did not seem surprised.

The maple had a chunk missing from one edge for over 6” of a 21” board. Not exactly what I was expecting. I advised customer service and they did not seem to care.

The sapele board was bowed. I sent in a note and do not feel you took my disappointment seriously. Three of the four bundles I ordered had issues with them. I won’t be ordering from you again.

Four out of the five rosewood fingerboards are usable. One I guess I'll have to just use for inlay. Still a reasonable offer.

This wood, although harder to turn because it dulled my tools quickly, came out just fine with a beautiful color—I didn’t stain it—and nice finish when sanded.

Grain direction is wrong, to be able to use a single board for a guitar neck. And if I want to cut it down and laminate them individually it would not be long enough. Also one board seems to have been very close to the center of the tree, there is one end that has rounded core right on the corner. I wouldn’t trust it to remain straight. It’s been awhile since I bought the boards, because I threw them in a corner because I was so mad about it. So I’m just now communicating about how disappointed I am with this purchase. I was going to see if I could make them work somehow; now I’m just as mad as I was when I purchased them.
This is more of an experiment at a low cost. I have laminated 3 of these to 6" tall for turning into a chalice. The holes don't present much of an issue when you have Starbond CA filler. The fourth piece will be used to turn the paten to go with the chalice. All with be finished with the three step Beall system. If this looks great I will be ordering me more.
